14 Thank You Quotes For National Teacher Appreciation Week
|
|
Thank you quotes can be wonderful tools when it comes to showing someone how much you appreciate the things they have done. During National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 7-May 13, 2007) we are reminded just how much we owe to the teachers who enriched our minds. These 14 thank you quotes say it beautifully:1. “I would thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you my heart has no bottom.” ~Anonymous
2. “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” ~ John F. Kennedy |
3. “I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” ~G.K. Chesterton
4. “I feel a very unusual sensation - if it is not indigestion, I think it must be gratitude.” ~ Benjamin Disraeli
5. “God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?” ~ William Arthur Ward
6. “I thank everyone that has caused me to suffer, without you I would have no reason to express myself.” ~ Author Unknown
7. “Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.” ~ Ralph Marston
8. “The depth and the willingness with which we serve is a direct reflection of our gratitude.” ~ Gordon T. Watts
9. “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” ~ William Arthur Ward
10. “For your thoughtfulness and generosity, from you I have learned much of life’s philosophy Thank you sincerely.” ~ Author Unknown
11. “We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” ~ Thornton Wilder
12. “To educate yourself for the feeling of gratitude means to take nothing for granted, but to always seek out and value the kind that will stand behind the action. Nothing that is done for you is a matter of course. Everything originates in a will for the good, which is directed at you. Train yourself never to put off the word or action for the expression of gratitude.” ~ Albert Schweitzer
13. “What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” ~ Albert Pike
14. “I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Remember to thank the teachers in your life this week, and while you’re at it, thank everyone who makes your world a little brighter. If you don’t know the words to get your gratitude across, these thank you quotes should do beautifully.

Writing thank you notes for wedding gifts shouldn’t be a chore but let’s face it: It can be. Oh I know you’re very grateful for the gorgeous gifts you received, for your friends and family traveling hours to see you, and for the generous checks you’ve responsibly deposited into your savings account. But when you think about sitting down and forcing out gushy sentiments on those tiny cards, your eyes roll back into your head.
|
|
Don’t think of it that way. Writing thank you notes for your many presents does not have to be a chore. It can be a pleasant trip down memory lane, letting you focus on each lovely gift bestowed upon you, and more importantly, letting you appreciate the giver. Here are some tips to get you started:1) When to write them.Send notes within two weeks for gifts received before the big day, and within one month for gifts after the wedding (you get time off for your honeymoon).
2) How to keep track of them.
The only thing worse than thanking someone twice (really not that bad) is forgetting to thank someone entirely (very bad). Every time you open a gift or letter, write down: |
- Who it’s from
- What is was
- When you received it
- Whether you’ve written a note yet
- When it was sent
Organization is a wonderful thing and having this list will keep you motivated.
3) Pace yourself.
Write 5 notes a night for however many nights it takes. If you have the kind of industrious husband who will help out, good work landing that one!
4) Six easy steps to a warm, thoughtful note:
1. Dear Friend or Family.
2. Thank you for the [description of gift] [name of gift].
Example: Thank you for the elegant Nambe vase.
3. At least one sentence about the item: something you did with it, a reason you like it, when you plan to use it. Ideally, make the sentence 2 parts, like the example below. This makes the note feel more sincere.
Example: It’s so chic and matches my living room decor perfectly.
4. Thank the giver for coming to the wedding, if they did.
Example: Thank you so much for coming. It meant a lot to us to have you there.
5. Mention something about the giver such as family members or something happening in their lives.
Example: Best wishes to the kids. OR Have a great time in Maine next month. I look forward to hearing about it!
6. Sign off. “Love” is fine for family members and close friends. For others, some choices are “Yours Truly”, “Regards”, or “Warm Regards”.
That’s it! Once you know how to write a couple of sentences that truly express your feelings, you’ll find it’s a piece of cake to crank out those thank you notes. And you’ll feel good that your gift-giver knows you really mean it.

I once had a friend who used to bid me farewell by exclaiming, “Up ’yer kilt!” Where Jock is today and how many pals he still has I cannot tell. But his original and startling phrase reminds me of a vital truth in direct mail fundraising: How you thank your donors and how your donors hear you thank them can be two different things.
|
|
Strangely enough, in the process of thanking donors, some fundraisers actually offend them. Here are some of the classic mistakes to avoid in your gift acknowledgement letters, notes and cards.Mistake #1: “Dear Friend” I think I can affirm without fear of contradiction that the only people who address you as “friend” are the people who are not your friends. If they knew you well, they’d address you by name. If you thank a donor with a letter that begins “Dear Friend,” you are likely to thank them and tick them off at the same time.Mistake #2: “We are in receipt of your gift” Your thank-you letters need to be sincere. But the quickest way to kill sincerity on paper is to speak in formal tones and generalities: “We are in receipt of your donation.” “We are grateful for the support recently received from donors like you.” |
When you give a friend a present, you expect the friend to thank you for that gift in particular. “Thank you, darling, for this beautiful ring.” “Thank you, Dad, for my new bike.” Avoid impersonal generalities by naming the gift you are thankful for.
Mistake #3: Asking for another gift You don’t intend to sound greedy or ungrateful when you request another gift in your thank-you letter, but that’s how the majority of donors perceive you. They think you’re being rude. That’s why I counsel my clients to request only one thing in their donation thank-you letters—that the donor accept their deepest, sincerest thanks..
Mistake #4: Too late How long does a donor have to wait for a thank-you before assuming you are not grateful? Two weeks? One month? Three months? In direct mail fundraising, there’s no such thing as thanking a donor too quickly. Every day of delay is a day for your donor to thing your organization is disorganized or ungrateful. Since neither of these two things is the case, aim to mail your donation thank-you letters, cards and notes within 24 hours of receiving a gift.
Few people misunderstand a sincere thank-you that’s well said and promptly delivered. Thanking your donors promptly and particularly, and sincerely, not only keeps your donors happy—it keeps your donors. And these days, any tool that helps with donor retention is something to be thankful for.

The interview was fantastic; you know that you impressed with your perfect answers and excellent resume. You also know that, from this point on, you just have to sit back and wait for the telephone to ring with your future employer on the line, begging you to come to work.
|
|
You know this, right? Very wrong. No matter how wonderful the interview or great the resume, you can never be sure that you will get the job of your dreams—-anything can happen. However, one way to help shift the odds in your favor is to write a Thank You Letter. This courtesy is often ignored by job candidates; so, if you take time, future employers are likely to take notice. An effective Thank You Letter can push you closer toward your career goal. The Thank You Letter should always sell your skills and how they will help your future employer. To write the proper Thank You Letter, follow these simple but effective tips:1. Keep It ShortA typical Thank You Letter is one page in length; this allows you to make your point without going on too long. Remember that most employers do not have the time to read page after page of gratitude. Show that you understand by keeping your letter short. You show courtesy in two ways. |
2. Refresh Their Memory
Refer to specific pieces of information discussed in your interview—this shows that you paid attention and can remember detail. By doing this, you can remind the employer why you are best for the job.
3. Send It Off
After your interview, begin writing your Thank You Letter. Do not wait; the employer should receive your letter within 48 hours. This shows proper respect. If too much time passes, a letter is not likely to help you. Your potential boss will probably forget you.
4. Be Professional
Your letter should be typed on plain, white paper. Do not use items like colored paper or special bonded paper. Do not send your letter through email or handwrite it. That shows a lack of respect.
5. Emphasize Everything
In your letter, be sure to reemphasize your qualifications and experiences. Remind the employers of why you truly are the best person for this position. A Thank You Letter can serve to alleviate any doubts he/she had of you during your interview if you stress your best qualities.
6. Extra Information
Make sure to save room in your letter for extra information that you may have forgotten to mention during your interview, or that the employer did not ask for. This can help reinforce you in their minds.
7. Be Original
Do not simply copy an example of a Thank You Letter and fill in the blanks; your letter must be of your own design. Otherwise, you can come across as unwilling to put effort into your projects.
8. Encourage Contact
Give your pertinent information (Email, Home Phone, Cell Phone, etc.). This will allow the employer to decide whether he/she wants to contact you or not—-you give them the chance. If you do not put your information in the letter, you may very well miss an opportunity.
9. Proofread
While an employer will appreciate a Thank You Letter, he/she will not appreciate one with spelling or grammar mistakes. Before you send your letter, proofread it; and, once you have read and reread, allow someone else to do the same.
10. Close With Gratitude
Without sounding overly dramatic, make sure that you thank the employer for taking the time to interview you. Thank them in your own way.
By following these steps, you can impress your future employer and give yourself the edge against other candidates. A simple courtesy could become the deciding factor of getting that perfect job.

ZipDear Name,I enjoyed the chance to visit with you in your office today concerning career opportunities with ABC Company. |
After discussing the future of the company I am convinced that I can make a positive contribution, and believe our association could be mutually beneficial.
I was especially impressed with the information you provided concerning expansion into other markets and the need for an invigorated marketing effort. With my background in advertising and insurance sales and experience as a carnival promoter, I believe I have a lot to offer.
ABC Company has an outstanding reputation in the field and is the type of organization I wish to associate myself with. I pride myself on being an outstanding salesman and promotional specialist, and look forward to a chance to make a positive contribution during this period of growth.
If I can provide any more information that would be of assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to call me at the phone number listed above, or email me if that is more convenient. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Again, thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
John J. Doe.
Using this sample letter will save you time and lead to more second interviews and more job offers. However, if your field is not sales or marketing it may not be perfectly suited to your needs. It should be easy to analyze the thank you letter and see which sentences and paragraphs can be changed to make it fit your needs and your profession. With modern word processing software you can customize one version, and then copy the file and make another letter geared towards a different type of job completely. For instance, if there are three or four types of jobs you would consider then creating a thank you letter for each is probably a good idea. The same of course is true with your cover letter and resume. Different versions for different types of jobs, emphasizing different aspects of your skills and experience will make you more versatile. If, however, you are determined to pursue only one type of job, then you obviously need only one sample letter, one type of cover letter and one type of resume. This is a personal choice and you are the only person who knows exactly what job would be best suited for you and if there is more than one type you’d consider.

The thank you letter for a second interview is a must for serious job seekers. If you’ve made it as far as a second interview, then you are right on the edge and are one of the serious candidates ready to be offered the position.
|
When you’re in that position then it is worth your while to use all of the leverage you have, all of your knowledge of the company and all of your job search skills to close the deal and land yourself a job offer. This letter can be a deal closer. When engaged in a job search, even if it is not your profession, you are really serving as a salesman. The product you are selling is yourself, your skills, and the concept that you can help the company you are applying to. A professional salesman always tries to know his or her product well, and always does better in selling the product when he or she has a genuine belief in the value of the product. As a salesman of YOU this genuine belief in your value to the customer, the potential employer is essential. If you’ve ever watched a sales representative for a radio station calling on customers you’ll notice that certain tools are carried by the sales rep and used time and time again. |
One sales rep made a fortune selling commercials on major league baseball game broadcasts by walking into businesses carrying a baseball bat as a conversation starter. He’s get the business owner excited about baseball and walk out with a signed contract. He did the same thing with major league football games by walking into a business carrying a football, or wearing a helmet. More conventional sales reps carry “leave behinds”, brochures, price lists and other literature designed to perk the interest of the prospect.
As a job seeker sales person, the tools you will carry will not be baseball bats, football helmets or brochures and price lists. You will carry the personal marketing tools that benefit a conscientious job seeker. They include a resume, cover letter, follow up letter, reference sheet, salary history, letters of recommendation, thank you letter for after the interview, and the piece we are discussing, the thank you letter for a sub sequential interviews.
Your thank you letter should be short and to the point. As an example,

Dear Mr. Jones,
I enjoyed our chance to visit during the recent second interview, and wanted to express my thanks to you for the serious consideration you are giving me.
As you know, I am very serious about my work, and I believe that Xyz Company would be an excellent fit for my skills, experience, education and background.
If you have any further questions, please give me a call. I look forward to speaking with you further.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
John Doe
As you can see this letter that you send after meeting with an employer for the second time is short, simple and conveys the thoughts that you wish to get across. Try this letter when the chance arises and you’ll have good results.

Where are the cutest baby shower thank you poems? Don’t you know the best thank you poems lie somewhere deep in your imagination?
|
Yes, you, even you can write baby shower poems for the guests - the greatest gift to thank for their coming for the arrival of the little one!And be relax, don’t be surprise, that writing a thank you poem isn’t that hard. You can write a poem to express your appreciation to the guests for the delicious food and punch they brought to the party, for their creativity in participating the games, for their sentimental messages written on the scrapbook, for their help to co-host such a time-consuming party to pamper the parents-to-be.At least, each guest has done something special for the baby shower and for you, the shower host. So why not use the baby shower itself to be the main topic of your baby shower thank you poems?
Well, since most of the shower hosts are running everything in hurry, to save time, my suggestion is: Seek out some good written thank you poems from internet (of course you must like them first), or you could take a few more time searching through your local libraries and book stores. |
Then replace some sentences according to what you want to say, and use them as the verse for your printable baby shower thank you cards.
Anyway, I found there are many cute baby shower poems during my voyages in cyberspace. Whenever I need write a new poem, I just a little of my creativities, a very personal poetry to say thank you is right there!
Since baby thank you poems are usually attached to a shower favor for the guests to take home with them, why don’t add something related to the baby shower theme?
One of the cutest baby shower ideas is to let the baby “thank” the guests - thought the little one is still on the way, the party is just for him(her)! And who can’t be touched by a lovely baby’s voice?
And before cut the special yummy shaped baby shower cake, add some cute baby shower thank you verses, as the cake inscription, onto the cake to create lots of tears and joys.
How about write with “I want to be a bright child, as smart as I can be. From your favorite storybook, please sign your name for a baby books’ shower. Or even write part of your baby poems in backward for a winnie the pooh baby shower. The ideas are endless!
How ever your ideas could be, remember this: baby shower thank you poems are very personal expressions to communicate. Just make a point that you can touch guests’ heart in an emotional way.

The daunting task of writing a wedding thank you note for each of your gifts looms before you. Suddenly you have questions.
|
Since you’ve got a lot to do, like enjoying your new spouse, we’ll cut to the chase and answer the most often asked questions and give you the a few quick tips for to finishing your wedding thank you notes with grace, gratitude, and efficiency.* How long do we have do send our thank you notes?
There is a lot of debate on this. Some say you have a year.
Staunch traditionalists declare you have 2-4 weeks from the time you return from your honeymoon. My personal benchmark is three months from the wedding date or from when you receive the gift–whichever is later.
* Does everybody get a note even if they did not send a gift?
Yes. Every guest who attends and/or sends a gift gets a handwritten thank you note.
* How do I write a wedding thank you note? |
This very simple. Each note can be written in 4-6 sentences. Just remember that a thank you note is six parts.
1) Dear
2) Thank you for the lovely (fill in the name of the specific gift)
3) Compliment of the gift.
4) Mention how you will use the gift (particularly if it is cash) or compliment to the sender.
5) Thanks again.
6) Love/Sincerely
Sample:
Dear (Insert name),
Thank you for the luxurious down comforter. It is so elegant and soft we can hardly wait to go to sleep at night. You have exceptional taste. Thanks again.
Love,
The Happy Couple
For a less formal wedding thank you note, switch the second line to: “It is so elegant and soft, we’ll never fall asleep on the couch again.”
The standard line that people use for #4 is “We’ll think of you every time we use it.”
You do not have to wait until after the wedding. Wedding thank you notes can be sent as gifts are received.
Knowing that you only have to think of two lines for each gift, keeps the task more manageable.
Other tips for your wedding thank you notes:
* Send the cards as you write them instead of waiting. It will give you a feeling of accomplishment.
* Write just three or four notes at a time to keep your handwriting neat.
* Share the joy! Thank you notes are not just for brides anymore. Modern etiquette says it is more than acceptable to let the hubby write the notes.
* Address all the envelopes in advance and just slip the gift tags with a note written on the back to remind you who sent what. (Use a slip of paper if you do not have the gift tags.)
* Keep a few envelopes and cards in your purse and write a few during lunch at work, in between loads of laundry, when you are in a waiting room, or during commercials instead of fast forwarding your Tivo.
If you catch yourself struggling to think of something nice to say about an unusual gift, remember that wedding gifts are a symbol of the blessings you have and will receive in your newfound union. Use your wedding thank you cards as a symbol of how much you appreciate each other, your loved ones, and your new life together.
